‘Hotels.com’ launches RI website

JAKARTA: Hotels.com, which provides hotel reservations worldwide, on Friday launched an Indonesian version of its website to attract more domestic travelers, an executive said.

“We are very optimistic [about] tourism in Indonesia for the next five years, because it is one of the countries with the highest growth in travel online market along with the penetration of broadband services, mobile Internet and credit cards,” Hotels.com vice president and managing director for Asia Pacific Johan Svanstrom said.

Hotels.com, a subsidiary of US firm Expedia Inc., provides information and reservation services for 135,000 hotels in 75 countries around the world and operates 15 websites in 10 different languages.

Svanstrom said the online company was targeting to facilitate high demand for tourism services in Indonesia, while promoting international and domestic travel.

“At the moment, we provide information and reservation services for only around 700 hotels in some big cities, such as Jakarta, Bandung, Bali, Surabaya and Medan,” Svanstrom said via telephone. - JP/drs. News from thejakartapost.com
